3M N95 Mask Fit Testing - Respirator fit and testing information
First Aid Connect provides qualitative fit testing for 3M N95 respirators in Ottawa. This includes testing for the 3M Aura 1870+, 3M 1860, 3M 1860S, and other supported models. Our fit-testing procedures follow applicable manufacturer instructions, Ontario occupational health and safety requirements, and the CSA Z94.4 standard for the selection, use, and care of respirators.
Each participant is tested individually to determine whether a specific 3M N95 respirator model and size forms an adequate seal on their face. When a tight-fitting respirator is required as workplace personal protective equipment, it must be properly fit tested for the individual wearing it. Our tests are qualitative fit tests. First Aid Connect provides supported 3M N95 respirators for testing. Participants may also bring their own 3M N95 respirator, provided the model is compatible with our qualitative fit-testing procedure (please reach out to us to confirm mask compatibility).
Mask Fit Testing Duration
N95 respirator mask fit testing typically takes approximately 15 to 20 minutes. Participants should allow up to 30 minutes in case additional mask models or sizes need to be tested.
Certificate
Upon successful completion of the mask fit test, each participant will receive a Mask Fitting certification valid for two years for the specific mask model(s) and size(s) tested.

An N95 mask fit test checks how well a specific respirator model and size seals to the wearer's face. The test determines whether that respirator model and size fits the wearer properly.
How Does a Mask Fit Test Work?
First Aid Connect uses qualitative fit testing. During the test, the wearer puts on the respirator and completes a series of movements and breathing exercises while the seal is checked.

What Should I Bring?
First Aid Connect provides supported 3M N95 respirators for testing. If your employer has given you a specific 3M N95 model, you can bring it as well, provided it is compatible with our qualitative fit-testing procedure. If you have workplace fit-testing instructions, bring those too.
