Heart and Stroke training is suitable for healthcare professionals, first responders, and anyone who needs to meet workplace requirements for CPR or first aid training. These programs are designed for nurses, physicians, paramedics, and other clinical staff who must respond to cardiovascular emergencies such as heart attack or stroke.

What’s included in our Heart and Stroke courses?
All Heart and Stroke courses at First Aid Connect follow the national foundation curriculum. You’ll learn how to respond confidently during time-critical events such as cardiovascular emergencies, strokes, and cardiac arrest.
Our BLS course covers:
- High-quality CPR training for adults, children, and infants
- Use of AEDs and barrier devices
- Team dynamics and communication in emergency settings
- Effective use of a bag valve mask
The ACLS course adds:
- Managing cardiac arrest, stroke, and arrhythmia in hospital settings
- Pharmacology and airway management
- Post-resuscitation care
The PALS course is focused on the paediatric response, ideal for those working with children and infants.
Every course includes scenario-based teaching, practical skills stations, and written assessments to ensure participants demonstrate a full understanding of life saving skills.
Course certification and renewal timelines
Certification timelines vary by course type.
- BLS certification is valid for one year from the date of your in-person class.
- ACLS and PALS certifications are valid for two years.
Renewal training must be completed before the expiry date to maintain your certified status. For example, a participant who attends ACLS in June 2024 must complete recertification by June 2026.
Certificates are issued directly by the Heart and Stroke Foundation and recognised across Ontario and the rest of Canada.
